Because in this article I’m going to show you three proven strategies for building muscle mass without illegal steroids.

First, I want you to picture a timeline in your head. On the far left, you’ve got the year 1850. Yes, I realize that’s over 150 years ago but bear with me.

On the right side of the timeline is the year 2,000 and beyond.

With that in mind, here are 3 strategies for building muscle without steroids. Each of these strategies was created, developed and implemented long before steroids were even invented:

Strategy #1: Lift Hard and Heavy, Short and Sweet.

Most guys who complain about an inability to gain weight are simply doing too much in the gym. You should train just three times per week and each training session should contain only three exercises.

Back in the 1920’s (before steroids were invented), a guy by the name of J. Hise gained 29 pounds in a month by training just three times a week. Also, he did ONLY the following three exercises.

Strategy #2: Eat (and Drink) More Protein

Of course, the real secret to packing on muscle mass is to eat (and drink) more protein. Muscles are composed of water and protein so it only makes sense that you’ll require additional protein when trying to gain weight.

Focus on eggs, beef, tuna, turkey, chicken and anything else you can get your hands on. And don’t forget about milk. J. Hise drank over a gallon of milk per day when during his mass gain training.

Strategy #3: Sleep

Sounds simple enough, but sleep is the ultimate key to build muscle without drugs. When you sleep, your body releases growth hormones and testosterone. Drug users can get away with less sleep because they are injecting artificial growth hormones and artificial testosterone.

But drug-free, natural trainers like you and I need to maximize our body’s ability to produce the real thing. For regular folks, 8 hours of sleep is enough. But for the drug-free athlete, shoot for 9 or even 10 hours of sleep per night.

Remember: Before the light bulb was invented our ancient ancestors got 10-12 hours of sleep per night PLUS an additional nap in the afternoon. So to maximize your natural hormones, get as much sleep as you possibly can.
