Co-hosted by the Literature and Culture Departments at the Institute where she has been based since early 2015, this colloquium talk introduced the audience to a shorter version of editor Julia Leyda‘s chapter in the upcoming volume. Taking into account the functions of cuteness in a set of female android characters from multiple contemporary popular culture texts, the talk analyzed examples from the film Ex Machina (2015); the television series Real Humans (2014-15), Humans (2015- ), and Extant (2014-15); and the comics series Alex + Ada (2014-16). The talk was followed by a lively discussion, which continued in the dinner afterwards.
